Somali pirates abandoned a Greek LPG carrier after crew locked themselves away in the vessel’s citadel.
The 9,108-cbm Gas Pride (built 2010) was targeted by seven gunmen 135 miles north of Bab El Mandeb in the Red Sea on 11 August.
It was en route from Fujairah to Suez.
The crew of 14 Filipinos, a Latvian and two Ukrainians retreated to the citadel following gunfire from two skiffs, NATO reported.
The pirate group was said to be from Bosasso in Puntland.
The ship is operated by Benelux Overseas of Athens.
